This morning, Alderman Natasja Groothuismink of the Municipality of Zaanstad visited the class that students of the practical training Helpende zorg en welzijn take each week at Zorggroep Zaanstreek.
Students follow a unique pathway that provides opportunities to work and learn in healthcare on a certificate learning basis. The first group of participants started in November. For 15 weeks, they can gain work experience with benefits or an internship allowance and are taught at the Mennistenerf location by trainers from Talland College.
Each participant has a beating healthcare heart and is inspired to work in healthcare. The alderman was impressed with the students’ commitment and motivation. “It is great to see how you can apply the theory in practice because you are also doing an internship here. And how quickly you pick it up, help each other and also dare to say what is and isn’t going well yet.”
Chanelva, one of the participants: “I find it very exciting and incredibly fun to do the practical training. I also have to do civics and was also excited to do the selection interviews. I would like to work in healthcare so I am very happy to do the practical training. It’s a really fun group and I want to get my first certificate now. After that, I want to go on for the second certificate. I’m going for it, there’s nothing that can stop me.”
Certificate learning is a pilot of Zorggroep Zaanstreek, Pact Zaandam-Oost, Talland College, and from the Work Center, Werkom and UWV are involved.
It is a recognized MBO course consisting of five parts. After each section completed, students receive a certificate. In March, participants will receive the first partial certificate.
